It's implemented as a printer. Pick File->Print from your app, then on the PDF button, pick Fax PDF
You can set up the faxing details in System Preferences, under the Print & Fax icon. You can also set up receiving there, if you have a phone line available for that.

Dumb question: Do you need to be hooked up to a phone line if you are only sending a fax? I don't know how you could magically fax over the internet, but I'm confused as to how this works.
Yeah, the built-in stuff uses the Mac's modem.
You can use something like this service if you want to send faxes over the intertubes.
what about if u want to scan afew pages and send them all in one fax... is there a scan to fax application out there ?
This fax service will send any PDF (so pretty much anything you scan) and many other formats, and will allow people to fax you (which you will receive as a PDF via email). It is, however, a pay service, but cheaper for me than keeping a fax line and it works anywhere that I am connected to the network.
There probably is something around that's specific to fax, but iPhoto works pretty well for this.
