Wear gloves or they can trace your fingerprints.
That's a given. Also use self seal envelopes so you don't have to lick them.

Food for thought: Printer Steganography.
Print out a letter and then mail it. Assume anything electronic is not anonymous.
How about using that one off email address but using a random open wireless network. They can't be hard to find, even now.
But let's be cautious.
Go to a different town, a small one with no CCTV. Another country is no good because there is a trail linked to you, passport, ticket, etc.
No public transport, too much CCTV. Someone might remember you. Use a friend's car so you can't be tied to being in this other town.
Leave your phone at home. Only pay cash.
Dye your hair, wear clothes you wouldn't normally be seen in.
When you get home destroy your clothes. Better get rid of the car too. And then your friend, he already knows too much.
Oh wait, you asked this on an open forum. Using your nic.
You're probably already in jail.

What if I want to report something anonymously?
I had a similar experience. However when I explained to my neighbour what to do, and why it is important to have a secure network, she asked if I would do it for her. Then she only went and gave me the password when I was setting it up for her! No anonymous email required.Another use for anonymous email...
My broadband went down once, so I borrowed a neighbours open network. I noticed they had not changed the root password on their router while i was poking around (I'm curious by nature).
My connection was back 2 days later. So, being a reasonably good citizen, I used an anonymous email service to let them know how to secure their network and router. The next day everything was locked down
I used anonymous email because i didn't know whether they'd be happy i helped them secure it, or be nasty that I'd used their connection, and obviously poked around enough to find a working email address for them.
Using newspaper and magazine cut outs is probably safer. They work great and add a certain "psychological aspect" that's difficult to achieve with a printer.
