When I was using MM I could choose from what address I wanted to send my mail messages, either the main one (my personal address) or the second one (my business address).
After migrating from MM to iCloud I found out in the iOS devices setting that all messages are sent by the "default account" i.e. the primary address. I still receive messages to the secondary address and they are pushed without problems.
Do I have to create a new iCloud account for my business address or do I live with that problem (i do not want my clients to know my personal address)
    Thanks

Is the business account an alias for your iCloud account or a complete separate email account?

If its a separate email account are you sure it's setup? When you go to send an email you should be able to press on your From address then press it one more time and you should get a list of email addresses (iCloud aliases and other email accounts.)

It is an alias that was created when MM was the way to go.

You should still be able to use it how I described above. I have 5-6 aliases from my converted MM account and that's how I select which email to send from. Does that not wok for you?

Sorry don't want to hijack but I had a question related to this:

When I set up MobileMe a few years back I chose a jokey family name as it was an email address used by a few members of the family ( for personal and family communications). They now don't use it much anymore (other than the other MobileMe features contacts, calendars etc). I then set up an alias for the account which was a bit more professional for applying for jobs etc (first name.lastname)

My question is this. I can do as described above (tap on from field and change it) but on occasions I forget. Is there anyway to set the alias as the default? I asked apple if I could change the main account name to the alias but they said no and simply told me to feed this back via the website.

Is it possible? I don't want to send an email from the main account address by mistake again. I have a mac mini running lion, an iPhone running ios5.0.1 and an iPad on the same. If it can be done I'd appreciate advice!!

I should probably add that I have iCloud now set up against the main address

On OS X yes you can, go into the mail.app preferences under Sending and change the email that you want to send from by default. Under iOS there currently isn't a way to set the alias as default unfortunately.

Thanks I will give that a whirl. On my iPhone I've set up a new email address withe the alias which seems to work. I've had to turn off mail in iCloud (not sure what the implications of that are) to make sure I don't use the wrong mailbox!!!

Edit: tried it but my wife also has an email account. I can't see how to set up alias as default for my mailbox, not all (not sure shed be too chuffed having to change her from field every time!!)
