Hey all, I have a maxed 15.4" MBP. I'm extremely in love with it. And when I read about the issues with the whine and any other things, I had no problems with it myself.

Even the uneven lighting was ok. It isn't THAT uneven. The bottom IS brighter than the rest of the screen though. It's like a gradation; from top to bottom, it is brighter/lighter on the bottom than the top.

So since I still have my 90-day free phone service and 1-year warranty, I decided to call Apple (which I just got off the phone with like no more than 30 minutes ago) and told them the issues with the screen: there's almost as if there's a white stripe across the bottom of the screen, bottom left and bottom right corner has a minor shadow (vignetting if you will), and told the Apple rep of the whine (which doesn't bother me at all but told her anyway cuz it wouldn't hurt if they could fix it).

She doesn't question anything. She is sending out packaging equipment for me to send my MBP in for repairs.

My question regards my data. Is it ok to leave my mp3s on here? I don't have much as I recently reinstalled OSX.

Should I just do another reinstall AGAIN?

I backed up my data on CDs so I should be fine if they screw up my hard drive, but it IS a hassle reorganizing everything.

Anyone with experience with sending in products to Apple that wants to speak up? I greatly appreciate any voicing from the community. Thanks all.

First of all do a back up. Remove any personal/confidential data and erhm not so legal software ;) if any.

Sure you can leave your mp3's and all your other data. Don't see why not.
Why would you do a reinstall? No need.
