Every time I try to send a pic to an Android phone, the pic fails to send. If I disable iMessage, it will send. I started noticing this late in iOS 14. I have Send as SMS enabled. Anyone else? Could this be carrier related? (Verizon)

Did you ever get this fixed? I have the save/similar issue all of a sudden. I have:

Restarted phone
Reset Network Settings
Disable/enable Send as SMS
Tried on Wi-Fi and Cellular

I don’t get the red exclamation mark, the recipient just doesn’t get the pictures unless they are using iMessage

Pics started sending but I still can’t send a file, like a PDF from the Files app. I didn’t do anything different other than update to the latest iOS.

Wonder if converting to jpeg will work.

So I turned off iCloud messaging and turned off iMessages on my iPad and it works. I turned them back on and it seems to be working still. I haven’t tried files though. And this all stated because my iPad won’t show messages a read even after I read them on my iPhone. That still doesn’t work

Thanks for the heads up on the fix, in case the issue come back. My iPad also takes a while for iMessages to sync, especially if I left Airplane mode on, on the iPad. iOS has been a giant frustrating mess for me. Don’t even get me started on Find My lol.

Ugh, that sucks. For the most post things are working good for me. I have some Airtags but don’t really “use” them. Not until I lose something. But I do have an issue with my watch never telling me I left my iPhone behind which it is set to do.

Well, you got me started lol. Im constantly being notified that I left my AirPods behind… while in my ears and connected to my phone lol. Names of devices don’t show up properly. Live location stopped working with 15.1. Also same issue as you. Awful.

I have tried all the settings I can think of, it seems like some pictures go through and some don’t. They all go through with iMessage, but as a text message it just seems random

I gave up trying to send picture messages from my iPhone to Android people via SMS; it's incredible that it's so hit n miss in 2022. I've owned iPhones now for ten years, and they've just never done this reliably. I don't know the tech reason behind it, nor should have to. I tried all the suggested solutions all over the internet but none of them worked for me. Luckily most of the Android people I am most likely want to send photos to from my phone are also on WhatsApp, FB Messenger or both, and through those apps 'it just works' with no drama.

It’s very screwed up that it doesn’t work for sure, the weird thing is that it was working just fine, no it’s so hit or miss

I’m just curious if you have an iPad, I still think this issue is related to messaging on the iPad. If I try to send a picture via text from the iPad it says MMS messaging must be enabled. Unlike on the phone I do not see an option for MMS messaging on the iPad

I get this from time to time and all I do is put it into Airplane Mode for about 10s then turn AM off and try again and that sends it.

The issue is that it doesn’t give you any indication though, if I had the little red circle with an exclamation mark then I could retry. Everything from my end indicates at the picture was sent, but the recipient just doesn’t get it

If you are sending actual files and not regular photos, the best way is to right click on the file in Finder (or Files) and Share. This worked for me vs attaching inside Messages. It also gives you the option to copy a link to share, which works on photos and files.

Oh I assumed it was pic not going thru and got the red dot!

Yes I’ve had the same issue but it was for 1 friend that has android. The rest of my android friends would get them. I’ve since EACAS and setup as NEW. Seems to be working as he now gets them (as well as other android users) for now

Thanks, I was hoping that I could find a solution without setting up the phone as new. But maybe it’s worth a shot

I did only to figure out why my message continues to background while on the charger. Been doing this every time since I got the 13 PM 2 weeks ago

I called AT&T and she sent some sort of SMS update to my phone. I really was not very confident she actually did anything. But it’s been over a week, maybe 2 weeks, and I haven’t had a picture not go through some since
