How does one actually send sketches and taps? I can touch someone's initials in the Friend's ring; tap the extended hand icon at the bottom of the screen; and then create a drawing (that seems to quickly disappear), but how do you actually send it?

Once the drawing disappears, it sends. It's weird and a little unwanted. There is no confirmation "send" button after your masterpiece has been sent. The same goes for the heartbeat. Pressing two fingers on the display shows your heart beat. Once you remove your fingers, your heartbeat is sent.

Oh, but where does the recipient receive it on his or her watch? In Messages, or Mail, or does it just appear on their Apple Watch face?

it will appear but they will have to click to engage it and it will show them.. you can't search them in messages or anything.. it is a one time view and disappear type thing
