I have HomePod and just got a new iPhone 8+. When I ask Siri thru HomePod to send a text he/she says that the iOS associated with the HomePod "has to be on the same network." Well as far as I know it is....I know it is probably something simple but I have not yet figured it out. Be gentle to this old fella. lol

Mine does that also once I turn WiFi on my phone on works fine!

Being on the same wifi network is required for personal request, including messages. This helps minimize the risk of someone sending a message from your iPhone intentionally or accidentally.
