Hi

So I have Readdle’s documents app and it requires a password to enter the app. In which I’ve stored dozens of private files including photos and videos. Felt safe for a while until I opened Apple’s Files app and noticed under ‘On My iPhone’ That there is a Readdle Documents folder within that contains the exact same files (photos and videos). This means that if someone got a hold of my phone they’d be able to access all of that data from Apples Files app without needing to go into Readdle’s Documents app.

Sure I could delete Apples Files app but all it would take is for someone to then go into the App Store, download Apple Files app and boom, they’d have all my sensitive data.

How can I make this truly private?

This is a bug on the readdle app. Please provide feedback to the developers. They should patch this immediately.

Use a different secure/encrypted app for sensitive data storage instead.

This.

But, once you put it into a cloud account, that cloud service's app can see everything, ala what OP is seeing in iCloud/Files. Eg, I sync my password manager via Dropbox, can see those files in the Dropbox app. And the app syncs settings and automatic backups via iCloud, which I see in Files.

So, need to find an app that encrypts before dumping to a cloud account. Or, keep it local to the device. Or save to a cloud service that has passcode ability on their apps (eg. Dropbox has a password ability for the app).

Please recommend one and I’m there.

Sounds like an issue with the Readdle documents app.
Damn it it does. Checked out the Readdle Documents forums to no avail, yet.
