That sucks. Same thing happened when I tried to get NYC Nearest Subway. Apple's really stepping up the effort to squeeze users to move to 3.1.

I'm sure that's true, but this 'augmented reality' functionality doesn't seem to be one of those features. The Yelp app has a hidden feature that overlays directory info over an image feed that worked fine on 3.0 (glitchy, but a good proof of concept).

I'm not blaming the developer here, just disappointed that Apple is tightening the reins this way.
