Well, I got the 12 Pro, not the Max, and the stabilization during video is massively better than 11 Pro. So even though there's no sensor shift in 12 Pro, the stabilization is insanely good.

I wonder what doesn't work with digital IS? It just seems like it would be better.
Isn't there some mode that combines images from different cameras/lenses? Do all of the lenses shake in unison?

Well, ****, I'm not a "new iPhone every year" kind of guy, but if this pops up in the iPhone 13 Mini I may end up swapping out my iPhone 12 Mini for it.

If true, good that all models get the feature and not just the Pro iPhones
Just a thought I had was....if Apple keeps putting these type of features on the non "pro", then what will differentiate the Pro from the base to justify more dollars? I could then just buy the regular one and have all of the same features? Am I missing something? The only reason that I have always bought the pro was because of the better camera.

I would still like to see a cheaper iPhone model without all the camera tech which I don’t need and never use. Hopefully that will come with a revised SE model.

My partner has the 12 Pro while I have the 12 Pro Max and I certainly can tell the difference in stabilisation on the Max especially when it comes to video! It is buttery smooth in a way I’ve not experienced on iPhone before - especially when walking - pretty sweet for a phone!

That’s the only thing that bothered me with the 12 Pro Max and the 12 Pro. It wasn’t a deal breaker for me, but I always hate whenever they release a new feature on the larger device just because it’s larger, then release it on the smaller one the year after. They’re both PRO devices. There shouldn’t be any feature differences other than screen size. They did the same thing with the iPad Pro. I will never get the larger one because I prefer smaller, yet they decided to release the better screen tech on the 12.9” iPad Pro. That was definitely a dealbreaker for me there to upgrade from my 2018 11” Pro. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one.

Here’s to hoping that if they do manage OLED on the next gen, it better come to BOTH sizes, not just the larger one. Otherwise, my 2018 Pro will have to hold up for another year, and lose some more of its resale value…

I'd rather have an astronomy mode or whatever it's called to take much better night sky and rocket launch shots. Stuff like that.
Seriously. I find myself wanting those kinds of photos much more often and almost all smartphone cameras are terrible for it. Unless you have a tripod and a third party app.

This, 120hz display, Touch ID in the lock button (like whichever iPad has it), good battery size and a proper gloss black like Jet Black would be the perfect upgrade from my 7 Plus 🤞🏻🤞🏻
As good as Jet Black looked and felt, it was probably the WORST fingerprint magnet out of any of the newer iPhones.

honestly. Googles new Android 12 is what I'm all excited about.

Yeah, but this time it would only be the flat side band of the phone that’s really Jet Black since the rear face is glass, but I want a glossy black rear face like the 4/4S and glossy band. 🙏🏻

I have a 12 Mini, and I can't see a reason to upgrade it for 3-4 years at least. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm a little bored with phone upgrades. I don't use them for gaming or creating a lot of content (just family pics/videos), but for the price of an upgrade, they just don't see that compelling.

Now if they can get 3-4 more hours out of a 13 Mini, well then that would be tempting!

I get ya, hence why I haven't upgraded from my 7 Plus yet, it's 5 years old come September but it still works for everything I use a phone for but the battery is now down to 74% capacity and hasn't started to limit it's performance but it's come too/at the end of iOS support and the 5 years of progress in the camera and screen departments are why i'll be upgrading to the 13 Pro Max come September. Then I'll use the 13 Pro Max till it runs out of iOS support in 5 years time. Rinse and repeat.

That’s true, but you can upgrade your phone each year and not spend a whole lot of money if you do it right. Rather than sending the phone back in after 12 months, I sell it and make most of the money back on the monthly payments for the year and final payout.

I used to do that when the market wasn't as crowded. Also around here we are having some issues with people getting robbed at phone sales meetups, so I'm just not bothering.
