    Hey guys,

Do any of you have a sensor-type looking thing on your iMac's? It's on the black strip around the edges just above the black Apple Logo.

See my picture for what it looks like (you'll have to look closely to see it):

I'm interested to see your responses of what it could be/is. I've only had the machine for going on for 3 days now so I'm new to the whole iMac thing.

Do you mean in between the screen and the black part of the case?

Probably, although on the white iMacs the apple logo itself was the IR receiver.

No it's actually on the black strip.

I found out it is actually the sensor. I covered the sensor over with a book and pressed the menu button on my remote and nothing happened. I then did the same over the Apple logo and it went onto the menu showing that the apple logo isn't the IR sensor. :)

Thanks for clearing that up - can you physically see it on your machines too? It appears in bright light for me

I don't own an iMac but i frequently use one, an i've never even noticed it.

On the plastic macbooks and minis it is really obvious, i've got a little black square next to the optical drive on my mini.
