My family has just gone through an iPhone upgrade, from 3's to 4s's. It's become clear that we could benefit from using a shared iTunes applied and using separate cloud ids. Like many others I don't think we realised you could do this when we set things up previously.

I've read lots on this, and am pretty happy that I can just create a new applied to use with iCloud (actually IU have a spare that's been migrated from MM to iCloud which I would prefer to use as it has a nice email address). But what I haven't found clear is how to do this and maintain the integrity of my existing data. I currently have an iPhone, a Macbook and an iPad and they all sync contacts, calendars, mail accounts and bookmarks between the devices using iCloud without any problems. So how do I migrate these three devices to a new iCloud id without losing all my nicely sorted contacts and my calendar etc.??

I think this may be it...
1. Create a backup of calendar and contacts on the macbook.
2. Delete iCloud account
3. create new iCloud account
4. Load backups into contacts and calendar
5. Change iCloud appleid on the iPhone and the iPad
6. Pour large glass of wine

Any comments on this as a strategy, or a better one, would be gratefully received.
