I work for one for one of those big carriers & apple doesn't want anything out before release date. There strict guidelines long in place. There is no way any of these carriers would want to risk anything that could damage their accounts with Apple.
how long have those been in place? I'm not arguing with you but I have gotten my phone a day before launch on two occasions that I remember

I lost faith in the pope when he met with Obama and does nothing but talk about global warming. I am Catholic, too. So many other things he could talk about but . . . .
agreed. analogous to the situation going on here now. personally, I think social issues such as pot, gay marriage, abortion, all that, should take a backseat to economic issues and issues that affect safety, but that's for another day...lol

You've been lucky. From my personal experience since I'm not privy to all dealings because it's always on a 'need to know basis' when it comes to Apple events, it feels they become more stricter each passing year..more watchful.

:(

You've had great luck so maybe it'll continue. Not sure how things will play out with the pope situation, I'm sure contingencies are in place to ensure delivery with minimal delays.
I live in Arizona so I definitely won't suffer the delays from the pope, but yes, maybe and hopefully. now, that was long ago (4 and 5s).

Well with one phone call or email apple could change their mind and release early. It's not like the world would come to a end if they did.

The way apple "releases products" for delivery on the 25th, even if they're sitting in your local warehouse, tells me that a Saturday AM delivery is more possible. Most of the time they are air saver, so it isn't that much more. I just think it'd be more UPS' decision following/on the 25th with what to do rather than Apple letting them go, because then people in other areas would feel that they deserved to get it a day early too (not saying anyone does or doesn't deserve to get it early)

Keep in mind apple has the extra week to play with and might just utilize it. Also things will be so backed up for UPS in papal zone by Friday that you would be looking Monday at the earliest.

I've receive a phone early twice with pre-orders but only by once day.
