Does anyone know, from previous event streams, if it is possible to access the event through Apple TV and then start it from the beginning if joining the event while it is in progress? Or will it begin from the live point and not allow me to go back until the event ends?

The live stream picks up while in progress. Usually within a few hours of the end, the whole thing is available to watch on their website, podcast channel and such.
