It is 10 minutes after midnight here in the great state of Alaska. Just checked to see my challenge. 55.2 miles this month. Way too easy. I got this!!

I just got served with another ridiculous one. Last month, I was challenged to log at least 348 miles (I managed just over 300 miles). This month, I'm expected to log 4,290 exercise minutes, or an average of 143 minutes a day.

These automated challenges are silly ... and potentially dangerous. The algorithms should at least take into account the weather conditions of where the users are located. In Japan, the brutal heat and soaring humidity of August and the onslaught of typhoons during September are by no means conducive to achieving extreme exercise goals.

My September challenge is absurd too, especially for this month. I’m supposed to burn 48,800 calories (1,622 per day). That might be doable for October, but with a marathon next Sunday, this week is going to be light pre-marathon and next week is going to be light post-marathon. So I’m officially out.

(I think the monthly challenge algorithm is fairly basic and dumb. When I get a calories burned challenge, it seems to be about a 10% increase from the prior 90-day average.)

I've got to walk or run 232 km for September, 7.6 km a day. I do walk a fair bit but I hate running and most of my exercise is cycling. I normally do 200 km a week. I just wish I could delete running from all my exercises as it's an activity that I've never liked or done apart from being forced to at school nearly 55 years ago now!

My challenge is math challenged. I'm supposed to burn 28,700 calories this month or as it says 924 Calories per day. Uhhh 924 * 30 days in September is not 28,700, it is 27,720.

I need to close my rings for 7 consecutive days. Easy!! I’m already on a 13 day streak touring the islands in Greece!

I have to burn 16000 calories for the month. I only take in about 1100 calories a day, and I am being asked to burn about 600 of it per day. Not going to happen unless I want to be the September poster child for anorexia.

similar here, indoor cycling during the week, mountain biking on the weekend, and for the 3rd time this year I got a walk/run goal (140 mi), won't be looking at the challenge this months, might make it, maybe not, it'll be fine either way.
Wish the app would recognize the type of workout ...

Again, more evidence of how these automated challenges are not just silly, they could be dangerous.

The Apple Watch is a nifty device for fitness tracking and motivation. But Apple needs a team of trainers to "curate" our challenges the same way the have a team of music-industry people curating Apple Music playlists.

Go 140 miles. Should be doable since I average 4-5 miles a day at work walking and I have a Renaissance Faire coming up in two weeks where I will be on my feet for two days straight walking around plus TwitchCon at the end of the month where I will be doing a shedload of walking.

2500 exercise minutes is probably doable. I’m going to need to get some longer walks and bike rides in though!

I was sick at May, so the goals are increasing very slowly.
600 exercise minutes for september...very doable.

Not too bad this month, still going to be tricky, but I've got a couple of fairly large bikepacking trips planned which will help.
