True, but my point was that the offer says nothing about it being restricted to certain models (except for, of course, the uh, restricted models). Could they cancel the offer if a new models are released prior to 9/15? Sure thing. Another point to keep in mind is that the rebate is specific to certain models of the nano and touch, so if those are updated the new models wouldn't qualify either. I'll probably end up holding out until the evening of 9/8, and then just give in out of fear and order the stupid thing.

They're not going to release even the news of any updates until after the promo is over. The main reason for the promo is to clear stock of the models that will be updated.

How did that roll-out work? The new imacs were eligible for the promotion but the ipods were not?

These were separate years. The iPods (updates that included the 2nd gen nano) when they were released were not eligible; Apple went by model numbers.

The iMacs were the aluminum ones at their debut last year. They were not eligible.

Apple, in releasing something new during the current promotion, would immediately render it ineligible for said promotion.

If that is true, then September 9th will be a great day!

Come on, we all know that the first week of school is pretty much a blow-off (for most classes).

I think you should wait. The new Touch won't see anything major so why go through all the hassle of buying, waiting for the rebate, and selling. The new MacBooks will be jaw-dropping. Why buy (settle for) the current one which is plagued with stains, cracks, and most of all, old technology (e.g. the graphics card). It's your choice but I personally will wait.:)
