Morning,
I am looking for answers but no one seems to know.

I purchased a 17" Macbook Pro
2.6 GHZ
4 Gig of Rams
200 gig Hard Drive

When I registered my Apple Care Protection online it tells me the serial number for my computer is a 2.4 GHZ.

Macmall , where I purchased seems to be dragging there feet in giving me answers, APP are pretty useless.

About this computer is saying 2.6 GHZ.
I am trying to figure out why the serial number is saying one thing.
Did I get ripped off? Can about this Mac have 2.6ghz even though it may really be 2.4?

I am also told APP will not cover this system.

Thanks

Perhaps the Apple Care package is the wrong one for this computer?

Macmall should fix this. They sold both items, they need to make good on the transaction.

Cheers,

I would check and make sure that the serial number in "System Profiler" matches the physical serial number under the battery in the battery bay. If they don't match, then it is clear that it isn't new machine, but one that has been frankensteined if you will.

Yet another strike for MacMall.
But the advice just above is fantastic advice. I'm curious too if the serials match.

Thanks

Thanks for responding.

The serial numbers both match. thanks for that advice, I never thought to do that. I will keep on macmalls case until I get the answer to this and let you know what the outcome is.

MacMall is an Apple Authorized Reseller, so Apple would be able to answer your questions as well.

I have a 17" MBP 2.6GHz that was CTO from Apple Store Online.

When I registered my Apple Care Protection online it tells me the serial number for my computer is a 2.4 GHz Also.

I took off the battery and it shows 2.6GHz where the serial number is.

I think its nothing to worry about. Maybe apple never updated its Serial numbers to show (2.6GHz) option.

Thanks for the responses. I do feel a lot better that others have had the same problem.
Again,
Thanks
