I initially set up my refurb SS S0 using the backup. Bad mistake because it looks like there was something wrong with it. After running for a bit it kept rebooting. With some patience, I was able to unpair and am now setting it up freshly.
I did notice that Apple Cash and my other cards showed up, but not the Apple Card.

Has anybody seen that as an issue with the S0? I think it was there on my original one.
Later ===> officially NOT supported - dumb Apple Cash works.

I will run it in a minimal config to test for stability before making changes. It is mainly used as a backup to my SS S5 with cell chip.

Has anybody used iOS15 beta successfully with Series 0?
I am running again into the infinite restart issue, which quite possibly started on my previous watch with installing the beta. Will try to get it back running and unpair, then try pairing with my wife's iPhone not running a beta.

iOS 15 b4 Release Notes. Downloading now and not tested

Resolved in iOS & iPadOS 15 beta 4

  • iOS 15 no longer creates a boot loop cycle for a paired Apple Watch (1st generation). (80023360)

I decided to just get the S6 with my network provider

trying to sell my S0 needs new battery as it’s dead lol 😆

Still got a sealed series 0 , i was fed up of charging it and switched back to my automatic omega after 3 months. I then got it out of the draw after 6 months to find battery had popped screen off completely so sent it back. They sent me a small white box square type with Apple Watch embossed on with just new face in. I’ve not seen that type on sale as the series 0 came in a very long hard plastic case in a cardboard box.

You need an old iPhone to sync it to, I’ve just had this performance with a series 1. You need a 5 family to iPhone 6 or a phone on iOS 13. There is some sort of bug in the watch app that keeps saying the iPhone requires an update which stops the update. Try removing the app off the phone and redownloading it or just get an old phone on iOS 12/13. I know it works as I’ve done it to a series 1 on 12 pro Max on 15 beta 3.

That is a new/refurb watch.

I just checked it, everything works including installing apps compatible with the older OS. I am having trouble activating cards in the wallet except for ApplePay, but that might be a network issue. I don't use that on this watch anyway, since it is my backup around the house for my SS S5.

My wife and I both have our Series 0 watches. My wife uses hers a lot; I have a Series 0 and 4 and I use neither. Battery life is about the same on my Series 0 as it is with my Series 4. Yes, seriously. The battery life sucked on my Series 4 so much that I took it back to the Apple store. They looked at it, saw it was draining battery at about 1% per minute and sent it in. Apple waved a dead chicken over it and said it's fine. I'm not ever buying an Apple Watch for myself or anyone else again.

It was amazing at launch, but it quickly became slow when Apple decided they wanted it to do more (rightfully so). I stuck with it until it wasn't supported by software anymore and moved to the series 4 - I think lots of people did the same.

New , when ive taken things back to apple broken I've always had things sent back in a plain brown box. This what was sent back is a retail box with a clear banding strip around the white embossed box , watch is still in the folded wrapped cellophane inside the box. The retail box was sent in a brown box with apple serial numbers stuck on the side of it and sent in a DHL rubber bag. I took it to the apple shop in Sheffield and they didn't have refurbs in stock that they usually give you in exchange for in warranty faulty items.

I got my refurb in a white box with Apple logo wrapped like yours, but not the original "case."

I used my S0 watch while working out for the first time in ages last week and it really does struggle with any apps.
I got frequent slowdowns and couldn't even change tracks.

Aside from using it to tell the time and receiving notifications you really can't do much else.
Even so, i got 5 years use out of my watch which is still good value and will upgrade when the new design is released, but the watch is almost unusable now which i suppose is expected.

As an aside, I would love to know what has happened to the few >$10K gold Apple Watch Editions that were sold. Melted down?
Purchased for the puppies!

It looks like iOS 15b4 really makes the Series 0 suck battery. This is with a "fresh" battery and it is drained in 4 hours.
Series 5 is also not great.

I still have a 0 on watchOS 4.3.2, with an XS max on iOS 15.1. The watch of course is laughably slow. The battery is amazing, but lately the screen has been less responsive. Being a lazy bum I don’t use it for exercising. I use it for just a few easy things – to see what time it is, enjoying the face that visualises the sun’s path. I read messages when I can’t be bothered to haul out my clown shoe size phone, and to ping that same device when I several times a day displace it. Occasionally the timer, and to control sound media “now playing” on the phone. Siri is useless on it, so are calls. I keep it as a matter of spite now I guess. My next watch – may it be far off into the future – will be the SE.

I've finally just given up with my Series 0. It's done well. Slow, but was fine for the time when I didn't want to wear and potentially damage my stainless steel Series 4 which cost a fortune! My iPhone switches to the series 0 but doesn't talk to it properly. If I try to track a walk on my series 0 it won't sync back to Apple Fitness any more. It's pretty much had it's day.

Now that the 4 is a little older I'm wearing it for the things I used my series 0 for before like walking the dogs. Considering it was first gen tech and it's lasted until nearly the end of 2021 I can't complain.

After sending in my Series 0 SS watch I received an email that it could not be repaired and would receive a letter describing more with the watch. I was quite disappointed.
When the watch came back it was a perfect refurb. I was quite delighted.
Interesting, so they are still sending out series 0 refurbs?

I still use my SS 0 and SBSS 0 besides newer ones. I still think that the AW0 is perfect, when it comes to its dimensions.
the proportions between thickness / shape and bands is perfect. AW 2 & 3 look bulky because they are much thicker than the AW0 and the 44mm / 45mm are too big for bands like the Milanese loop. It does not look right on them.

I went from the Series 2 to 7 and find it is worse in some respects, especially responsiveness with Hey Siri, and don’t get me started on the ridiculous requirement to drop your wrist down and then back up again to read messages. The overall speed seems only marginally better as well.

I fired up my old Series 0 and it works with one weird issue. Ever so often my iPhone wants me to verify my Apple ID. Usually at night in the middle every night. I unpair it and it stops asking. So i guess series 0 is really outdated. lol

No problems here with my SBSS 0 & SS 0, which I do use from time to time besides my series 4. All paired with an iPhone on the latest iOS 15.

Maybe set it up without a backup?

I did as new. I have another one, I’ll try that one later since Apple was having issue today.

I just turned on my Series 0 SS this morning and wore it until just now, the battery seemed to drain kind of fast for the first 20% and seemed to stabilize after that. It’s also very slow compared to my Series 5, you can notice immediately how slow it is. But as far as everyday function and use, it worked just fine.
I think it’s time to finally move on with it, I don’t normally use it especially since it doesn’t have sleep tracking, hopefully I can find it a good home.

Basically the only good use for those watches, the tech is already unsupported and they are not even selling it because no one will buy it for the prices they paid for it.

You know it’s bad when even apple didn’t it even bother to bring them back in their current line up.

I saw one of the watches that originally retailed for 17k sell for 5k years ago.
