Can you explain what that means please? How does that translate to mah versus the series 10?

It means the battery holds 11% more energy. Whr is the proper way to measure energy capacity, not mAh.

11% alone is unlikely to give 6 hours more battery life. Otherwise, 33% would double battery life? Of course not. This means the increase Apple's claimed battery life is most likely a combination of different testing parameters + bigger battery.

Gotta admit...I was not available to listen to the Apple announcement, but a few hours afterwards I read on MacRumors about the "increased battery life" and a few other features and I was instantly ready to order and trade-in my Ultra 2 at that moment in time. However, I caught wind of how they are now measuring battery life and I did not order and am instead taking a wait-n-see approach.

Apple had me at first and I was ready to instantly buy, but now I'm taking a more cautious approach instead.

Can you see if the Ultra 3 has a bigger battery than the U2?
If his chart is correct it is 2.18 in the Ultra 2 and 2.313 in the Ultra 3. That is a 6.1% increase in total battery capacity. Now that doesn't mean the Ultra 3 will get 6% more battery life... the screen is more efficient in the Ultra 3 power wise... but at the same time it updates every second so that may or may not be negated. The new 5G modem... we dont know if that is more or less efficient than the LTE modem in the Ultra 2. The processor, S10, is the same between both. I'd argue that the safest guess is the Ultra 3 burns power roughly the same as the Ultra 2 and the 6% extra battery doesn't fully account for the 16.7% in reported battery life (36 increasing to 42 hours) which is in part the increased size of battery but also mainly the way they are accounting for use and now including sleep tracking in sleep focus mode (the old Apple Watches despite being able to track sleep never used sleep mode to determine battery life in Apple testing) in their equation for battery testing.

What apps do you use it with?
Ultra watch will be used for monitoring Sp02, and 5G + satellite messaging for aviation emergencies.

I do wish Apple had the Garmin watch aviation features like weather, barometer, flight approach plate, ADS-B/S for flight traffic, etc....

But then my iPad Mini running ForeFlight has those features and is mounted inside the plane.

For some reason my AWU3 battery life has been awful. I could usually get a day and a half to 2 days on my AWU2 but I’m barely getting 18 hours on this one
Mine hasn't been awful, but hasn't been any better then AWU2, been about the same for me. Still early, but I was hoping for a little improvement, but not seeing it yet.

First night in AWU3 very similar to previous ultras, losing 8-9% overnight sleeping.

Weird, as I am not seeing that on my Ultra 3. My previous watch, the Ultra, was down to 88% battery health, and overnight would drop about 10%-ish (or more) while sleep-tracking, and my average morning workout would generally leave me with 50%-55% when I sat down to eat breakfast.

I've had two full nights with the Ultra 3 - sleep tracking took 1%-2%. My watch was at about 84% after my workouts this morning, and yesterday's, which was a long run, it was 78% (it would have been in the 40s with the Ultra.)

I can say I picked up my AWU3 at 530pm this past Friday (release day) and set it up at 7pm and let the battery get below 20% which was Sunday night at 1030. Didn’t do a lot during the weekend.

This morning got up at 415 and threw it on the charger while I got ready for work and put it on when I walked out the door at 5:15am this morning (charged to 95%) I deliver packages and am active from around 6am and as of 230 this afternoon I’m sitting at 75%. I don’t claim to know about the battery life and if it’s getting good battery life per charge or not, but believe it depends on what one is doing at a particular time.
