hi guys,

I got a series 2 Apple Watch and the battery has been excellent. After about 2 hours it would still be at 100% and at times with a 30 min workout, I'd still have 64% after wearing it from 730am to 9pm.

However, today it seems to be draining a lot quicker. Still fine - I will last till the end of the day but it's not as great. For example normally it would be around 90 and it's at 76% by 115pm. The only thing I've installed is Dark Sky but have uninstalled now and the battery is still going quicker.

Is there a way to check what's using the watch battery the way you can with the phone? What do you think may be causing this? (A week after wearing it).

Thanks!

To my knowledge, there isn't a way to see how much battery power each watch app is using (like there is on the iPhone). It's one of those features I wish Apple would add to the iPhone's Watch app. That being sad, regularly restarting the Watch has kept the battery usage pretty decent in my experience. (I restart it every night or two before putting it on the charger.)

after a week my AW2 is now draining way faster. I don't think I have apps open. First few days I had 65% after 16 hrs of use (no workout) & last couple days it's been about 25%. Weird & a bit concerning. Last thing I want is to have to charge my watch before days end

This is mine with 34% left. What do you think? Series 2.

I've been using the Watch since Friday, so definitely too early to tell anything about the battery. So far, it seems pretty good, but I want to test it the next week. E.g. more workouts to test gps/battery usage.
Another point: after I've paired the watch to my iPhone 7 plus, the battery of the 7 plus has been draining very fast. Of course, this makes sense, but it continued even yesterday. On top of that, the iPhone was charging very slowly. In the end, only a clean reinstall of both devices helped me out.

Took my S2 42mm off charge at around 9am on Friday morning and is now at 30% at 7pm on Sunday night. I haven't turned it off or put it in flight mode at all so I'm extremely happy with the battery life. 3 days easily!

That's ridiculously good! Mine is nothing like that. During the first week was great - closer to 50-60 at night after about 12-14 hours. Now it's not awesome. I thought a hard reset fixed it but don't think it did. BUT it could be because I'm playing around with it.

I usually last a day and a half with excessive notifications on aw1 but haven't gotten home yet to try my aw2 yet so I'll try in a few days

To be fair, I've been away over the weekend so haven't been playing with the watch an awful lot. Still plenty in reserve after 3 days so I'm sure that even with heavy usage I'd still get 3 days.

Also, I'm rocking full screen brightness and haptic.

I noticed on mine that background app refresh was on for all the apps so I turned that off. I only did this in the past 24 hours so not sure about the impact. I have only had the Watch a week and 2 days so only time will tell. It did make a huge impact on my iPhone 5s when this feature was introduced

What does the background refresh do or not do if it's turned off?

yesterday i was at 95% battery life around this time... put on the watch at 5am and end the day at 9pm with 50-60% battery... i did a hard reset this morning and im still at 100% after 2.5 hours of wearing it :)

I'm testing both S1 and S2 right now. Both watches have the same apps installed, same watch faces/complications running and both have background app refresh disabled. Brightness is set to the lowest level as well.

Yesterday I took the S2 off the charger at around 8am and went to bed around 10:30pm with it around ~60%.

Today I took my S1 off the charger at 8:15am and it's at 86% right now. I'll try to update this later with amount remaining by bedtime. *Edit* My Series 1 was at 37% at 1030pm. 3hr15min usage, 13.x hr standby. I'll post my findings again for Series 2 tomorrow. */Edit*

I try to do the same casual activities each day, check HR, send msgs, breathing exercise, etc. I did notice however that after rebooting my S1 today, the battery is lasting longer than it normally did before I even received my S2 to compare. I will try rebooting my S2 tomorrow morning before putting it on for the day for another comparison.

I took have found a hard reboot helps for a day, maybe 2. I would hope I don't have to hard reboot every day or other day for my AW2 to run as efficiently possible..

Have had it for 5 days so far, I charge it in the morning so I leave home with 95-100% and the next morning it is usually around 60-75% when it goes on the charger.
