I bet this has already been posted but can't seemed to find a thread relating to it after some searching, so I hope I am not double posting.

I have a Series 2 SG, which is currently paired to my iPhone XS Max on iOS 14(as I paired it when it was still on iOS13).

Am thinking of unpairing it and then pairing it to my iPhone 11 which is also on iOS14, does anyone know if the Series 2 will pair despite not being able to update to WatchOS 7? Will like to avoid having my Series 2 bricked as all my iPhones are now iOS14.

You should still be able to pair a Series 2 or older, even with iOS 14 and later. I have an original “series 0” watch that I‘ve been using for sleep tracking that I regularly wipe and set up as new to restore performance. I’ve had no issue with it’s compatibility with new iOS versions as far as being able to pair.

For reference, the ”series 0” watch no longer received Watch OS updates after 4.3.2.

Have you tried pairing with seperate iPhones over the years since WatchOS 4? There's conflicting information on this topic, and I could not find a definitive answer anywhere, even on Apple's site. I personally have a Series 0 that has failed to pair with a new iPhone and I assumed that it was dead in the water.

That’s a great question, and yes I have. I’ve paired it with new phones each time I’ve upgraded. I also have a first gen SE that the watch has never been paired with. Prior to writing this reply, I unpaired from my 11 and then reset the watch and paired it with the SE that is currently running iOS 14. It paired and synced without issue.

Is it possible that activation lock is enabled on your Series 0? That would prevent pairing. One way to check is to sign in to iCloud.com, choose settings, and then see if the Series 0 is listed. If so, removing it should release the activation lock and allow it to pair with another device.

Thank you for the helpful reply! That (activation lock) might be the problem. Shall try to pair the Series O again, as well as try to pair the Series 2 with another phone. Do you know if the Watch app will force an update to the latest support watchOS (even for the unsupported series 0) upon attempting to pair?

Hi. I’m sorry I’m just now getting back here.

I do not know if it will force an update to the latest supported watchOS, but knowing Apple it wouldn’t surprise me if they did try to push it on you whenever they have the opportunity.

Were you able to get the Series 0 and Series 2 to play nicely again? I do hope so!

Thanks for the reply, Series 2 does work when I try to re-pair it on another iOS14 phone, albeit with some quirks and bugs. Decided not to re-pair my Series 0 as I have it on watchOS 3 currently, and it works as a "digital watch". watchOS 4 did and probably will ruin it again.
