I guess it depends if you want a new one or used one. Now that Series 3 has been announced, you likely can find a used Series 2 relatively inexpensive. And I do know that there are some discounts with Series 2 even new in the box.

Go for series 2 if you don't want cellular and want the ceramic back. My series 2 has been great, would never get the composite version on series 3. My original with composite back got scratches, my series 2 is like the day I got it.

My series 2 is pretty fast, not sure what the series 3 without LTE will bring, I think the lack of a ceramic back is a negative.

I assume you can save at least 100.

I am sticking with my series 2 SS 42mm....makes no sense to get LTE especially when you only get 1 hour talk time and 3 hours LTE stand bye time and pay $10 dollars a month. To me having LTE is more of a fashion statement right now but hopefully in the future it will be better.

I picked up a S2 the other day (my first Apple Watch) and was not wild about the Siri integration. I ordered a S3 gps and I’m going to compare. I did feel the S2 was a little slow. If there isn’t much difference I’ll return the S3. I think I will notice a difference but we’ll see.

I'm also wondering what needs to be FASTER? The series 2 on OS3+ transitions are pretty quick and don't really need to be faster. maybe they upped the processor in order to enable live Siri

BT and WiFi are faster and cpu is faster so everything is smoother and faster.
Impatient people like me appreciate every little improvement in speed.
