I have a series 3 LTE and can’t seem to sync more than 2gbs of music to the device. Is there a setting or something I have to toggle?

I saw a screenshot elsewhere that showed 2gb is not the limit on series 3.

Thank you all!

Someone was saying they thought that Apple would increase this limit when they send out the next update for Apple Music streaming

Apple said that the limit on the 16GB Series 3 is 8GB, so the limit being stuck at 2GB is a bug.

I'd expect this to be fixed when they push out the update for Apple Music in October (along with a bunch of other bug fixes that didn't make the 4.0 launch).

I saw a screenshot that led me to believe it was already the case 2gb is not the limit.

Did Apple say the music limit is 16 or that is the capacity? I saw a screenshot someone had loaded 3+ gb on their device.

They said the limit on the 16GB watch for music was 8GB.

So, either it IS a bug and limited to 2GB currently (as has been reported by others) and it'll get fixed in an upcoming update, or it isn't and there's no point in talking about it. :)

But two cheers for clarity and clarification

Heh. Go get a Series 3 and try it out! :) I can't :( - have to wait for my damn carrier to do "network upgrades" (supposedly) later this year / early next year before I can upgrade from my S0.

(and, yes, that's frustrating) If they take too damn long, I may have to wait for the S4. :(

I'll try it on my Series 3 tonight if I'm not in too late

That's a downer about your carrier!

I have one and my cap seems to be 2gb. But I saw someone else post a screenshot with more. So I am wondering if they toggled something that I haven’t to get the extra capacity.

I had this issue when i setup my AW3 LTE from my AW0 backup.
To resolve i un-synced all music, let it take effect overnight while on charge.
Next day i was able to re sync and get past the 2GB limit and now have about 4.5GB synced

How many playlists have you selected to sync? (maybe it's a throwback to only being able to sync one playlist - maybe the limit per playlist is still 2GB?)

I have a bunch of play lists selected, but they are all less than thirty Songs. Small playlists.

I had the 2gb limit issue at first with my LTE.
But then it seems to have gone away.
I set up my LTE watch from backup of my series 2 watch and kept the series 2 still paired.
I'm not sure exactly what I did. It may have been removing the music then re-adding. I'd try that first.

Any updates on this? I just got a series 3 LTE and it keeps giving me the out of space error when syncing more than 2 GB. I tried removing all the music but that didn't seem to help.

Edit: I got it to accept > 2GB after removing all music and then rebooting the phone and watch. Rebooting seemed to be the necessary added step.

Thanks all for the tips.

Well, I caved and picked one up (there was stock at our Apple store...resisted for a day) :), so upgraded my SBSS to an S3.

Set it to copy 6 playlists over, totalling just under 3GB - we'll see if I get a denial or not.

Put the iPhone on the 5GHz 802.11AC network, the watch is, of course, on the 2.4GHz 802.11n network, so we'll see how quickly it can get that data over (both are on chargers to make sure).

Edit: Hmm. This support doc (published Sept 21st) suggests that the watch is getting music from the iPhone over bluetooth?? https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT204691
That may explain why this is seeming to go very, very slowly. :(

You could already get the S3 and enjoy all the other goodness it brings over S0. It really feels like a completely different beast! And once your carrier is finished dragging its feet you can still activate LTE.

It was established elsewhere that upgrading from 11.0 to 11.1 fixes the issue.

Ummm...two posts above? :) I did already. :)

You mean 11.0.1 ? (11.1 hasn't been released yet - it's still in beta) :)

Hmm. What's weird is that the watch isn't reporting the storage usage properly. Reporting music as only 1.5GB, but total used as 4.7GB (of which at least 3GB is actually music).

Wee bit of a bug.

Edit: And before anyone suggests it....yes, rebooted both devices. :p

I have a Series 1 and have 2.6 GB of music on it now, so it would appear that it's not just Series 3 LTE that can have more that 2 GB of music now.
