I was wondering the same thing. I'm going to use it today when I goto my CrossFit class. I usually use the Other workout for these and figure today I'll try HIIT even though Crossfit isn't really HIIT
Thanks buddy, let me know how you get on!

I've done two HIIT workouts (outdoor boot camp) with it and it was interesting to see the heart rate graph afterward. I don't think it engages GPS because there's no map showing your movements like when you choose running. But it did tell me I moved 2.3 miles over the course of the hour (lots of sprints). I do wish I had a map, though, and wonder if I would be better off choosing run instead. That seems to give you more information. In one hour my battery dropped about 20%. A couple times I glanced down and it was having trouble reading my heart rate, but overall I had a pretty complete graph of it going up and down and says I burned 430 calories.

so what if i'm doing a HIIT workout on the treadmill? (30 seconds sprint / 60 seconds walk) -- do i count that as a HIIT workout or an indoor run like I've been doing?

do we know if the selection does anything other than categorize your workouts for you? i didn't have the impression that different features were turned on/off.

i did a HIIT today -- one thing that's apparent is that heart rate monitoring is a lot better than in S2. HIIT used to cut out about 50% of the time, thus give me a drastically lower output on the watch than in reality. today, i probably had 4-5 minutes of total dropout over 40 minutes of workout. so my active calories are a lot closer than i would have thought.
it COULD be the band keeping the sensor more stable in one spot. either way, i'm happier with today that i ultimately don't need to use an external HRM just for HIIT workouts.

the watch does great on my peloton (and mirrors my chest monitor that's connected to the bike). it just used to dropout a ton with either weights or HIIT. i have upper body tomorrow, so will see how it does with that.
