Give WatchPlayer a try!! You can add feeds directly on the watch and the developer implemented a direct download method on the watch that can download episodes as quickly as on the phone (when on Wi-Fi or LTE) (downloaded an episode of Accidental Tech Podcast, a fairly long podcast in 30 to 50 seconds!) - amazing app

I am about to, just downloaded WatchCast and the podcast doesn't seem to be downloading at all on the watch, it is stuck at 0%. Hoping for a better experience with WatchPlayer.

Thanks for the push. Downloaded it again (had to restart phone for it to appear in the watch app) and successfully transferred a podcast from phone. Seems to be working. In a prior version there was an issue of there being an echo (from the same podcast but at a different place) when listening but the developer says he has fixed this. Took about 5 minutes to transfer a 70 mb podcast. (Last time I tried it never got past 0%). Looking forward to leaving my phone at home again...

You absolutely will - the app can function entirely by itself now, so you don’t even have to worry about the whole transferring process, the only thing I did prior was transfer the feeds, which you don’t need to do anymore with the new search feature on the watch app.

One big tip is to make sure to turn your iPhone on Airplane mode while you are downloading episodes, that way the download will be conducted with the watch itself, when connected to the phone it’ll slow down considerably.

Not sure how that would work if you signed up for LTE service, but canceled to return your watch. May depend on your carrier.

I didn’t sign up with ATT until I had my LTE watch for a few days. During signup, it said I would get credited for the one-time activation and 3 months free sometime within the first 3 bill cycles. Not sure what happens if you cancel.

Indeed my first bill shows no credits and has the $25 and $10/mo charge.

So I guess worst case is you might have to pay $35 to try it out on ATT.

Did you have absorbent taxes on top of the $10 fee? I can't even believe this is actually a thing.

Agreed... this has been talked about quite a bit on this forum. Even some dedicated thread(s) on this topic alone.

Can't do anything about it tho, if you want the service.
