I wanted to create a thread to uncover Qi wireless chargers that work with the Apple Watch. I tried this one, but it does not work:

Wireless Charger, CHOETECH Type C [Sleep-Friendly] QI Wireless Charging Pad for iPhone 8/8 Plus/X, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, S8, S8 Plus, S6 Edge Plus and Other Qi-Enabled Devices (Adapter Not Included) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L3OUC7W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_djDXzbD4MT5PV

Please post here if you find any that do work.
Thanks

I thought I had read somewhere that someone tried a Qi charging pad and it did not work with S3.

The assumption is only the future AirPower pad will work.

Well, yes, of course the AirPad will work with the AW3.

Where the logic fails is the extrapolation that because the AirPad supports Qi that means the AW3 is also Qi compatible. No reason to think the AirPad doesn't instead support Qi *plus* whatever the AW3 needs.

That said, there've been a couple reports of AW3 working on certain Qi chargers but no real pattern to it. So perhaps it's "close" in terms of standards and works with certain ones.

I have a variety of Qi pads. When my AW3 eventually shows I'll of course try it on all of them.

Apple never said the Apple Watch's magnetic charging is compatible with Qi standard. The Air Power stuff Apple will be releasing next year probably supports multiple mode of wireless charging, one of which is Qi.

Well, while that may be true, the thinking is if the iPhone 8/X is Qi and airpower compatible, and if the Apple Watch is airpower compatible, it might also be Qi compatible? Sure it's a leap but perhaps Airpower is the super awesome version of Qi, perhaps Air Power is similar enough that the Apple Watch will just accept Qi?

AirPad seems to be extending a part of Qi standards where others haven't yet gone.

None of the above implies anything other than it *also* supports the AW3. Doesn't imply anything about the AW3 charging other than the AirPad supports the AW3.

I am betting the AirPower pad just has an inductive Apple Watch charger inside it with Qi pads either side. They only show the watch laying flat on the pad and its supposedly compatible for all apple watches back to S0

Actually according to the specs on the Apple website the series 1 is not compatible, presumably neither is the S0 or S2.

I turned on the wireless charger on my Kia and for a brief second it worked. Have not been able to replicate.

That's a great idea. Especially since it's hit and miss. I couldn't find a compatibility list anywhere. All I saw was that there are some that work but not Belkin or Mophie.

Your assumption is faulty. Read the Verge link the OP provided. There are other similar reports as well.

Anyone try those wireless table chargers and Starbucks?
I guess not since I don't have a clue what "wireless table chargers and Starbucks" is.
Perhaps a new beverage or another menu item?

Here’s what I found from ifixit in the Apple Watch series 3 tear down.

“Also it appears that the wireless charging coil has been slightly modified to support most Qi wireless chargers.”

Interesting :)

Back in 2014/15 Starbucks deployed "Powermat" charging pads in their stores. No idea how many stores got them; I rarely go to Starbucks. Now they're apparently updating them to allow Qi compatibility.

In any event, none of my Qi charging pads seem to work with my AW3.

I got the belkin boost up working with my aw 3. It needs to find the right spot on the pad but it seems to work.
cant be sure if its good for the battery or not
