I know Apple owes me nothing but I expect more from Apple because of the superb professionalism, customer service, and integrity they have demonstrated in the past. Yes I can expect more.

But as you said they owe me nothing. Therefore rather than risk the crazies you can encounter on sites like CraigsList, I will gift the watch to my daughter who is in grad school.
Seems like you would have done that in the first place.

Oh and no you cannot "expect more" very simple relationship between Apple and you, they earn money, you spend money.

Apple watch 2 is selling for around $80 on eBay. After fees and paying taxes, it will fetch about $60.
AW3 will fetch more. But is it worth your time?

Free market.

there’s an old saying in business to avoid telling your customers “no”. Instead, answer “yes” but price it such that they’ll go somewhere else or your can subcontract th work profitably.

IMHO that’s the case here. Also IMHO folks who don’t like Apples offer would be more productive to go find a different wholesaler rather than whine about it here. Not saying they shouldn’t voice their opinion, but I’m also not going to refrain from voicing my view that they appear self-entitled, naive, and silly.
That’s the beauty of a discussion forum. People are free to ‘whine’ about trade in costs and you’re free to ‘whine’ about those people sharing a different view and you’ve done so and pointed out the obvious regarding finding a better place to sell an Apple Watch. Personally for me the best place to put an old AW is in a drawer and that’s where mine will sit until one day when I throw it away.

For the record, which is better to sell on? Swappa or Ebay?

Swappa seems to be a US thing so I have no idea if it’s good or not. eBay is it somewhere I’d sell anything that costs more than £10 due to the amount of scams it attracts and the fact eBay doesn’t take the side of sellers. I’ve sold through Shpock and Facebook marketplace as you can sell face to face.

I know I’m new here but I just recently traded in my Apple Watch series 3 to T-Mobile for $170 credit....I traded it for the series 5. Apple was going to give me $60 for it. I do have T-Mobile service though. Just sharing my experience

Specifically for the Apple Watch, I won’t trade that device in, I’d rather just sell that out right to a localized selling group in my area. I’ve been fortunate where I met some really nice buyers, no issues, but I make sure I do my homework anytime before I sell to someone in person.
