For those getting series 5 - what are you going to do with your 4? Sell it? If so, where?

Does Apple have a trade in program?

Apple may have a trade in program like they did last year, but it'll likely bring less than you can get selling your watch independently. ESPECIALLY if moving up from a stainless steel series 4.

With Apple dropping the S4 I suspect there will be a reasonable used market for good condition used units.

Why even offer a trade in like that?

It’s either an error or a spit in our face.

I get that we don’t have to use their trade in service, but it’s beyond insultingly low.

Indeed. I was expecting $250 or so for my Series 4 aluminum. If it was $200 even it would be lowish but not insane. If they don't want to do trade ins why offer one that this is this absurd?

apple's trade in is just pathetic. I would ave considered an upgrade but not now! $100 for a stainless steel gold finished 44mm watch....what BS!

it has to be a mistake if not my series 4 LTE will serve me fine for another year or two :)

If I wanted to give away my $400 Series 4 for $100, I think I'd rather keep it, and wait for it to become a "collectors item".. Actually, with the "somewhat limited" upgrade of the AW Series 5, I think that everyone that already has a series 4 should keep them, unless they have unlimited funds, that are burning holes in their pockets... but then, even given that, there's always beer and pizza.

Each to their own of course, but for me upgrading was a no-brainer. They've apparently addressed two things important to me -- always on display and increased storage capacity. Compass will be nice at times also. Although those may be of no import to others, they are worth it to me to upgrade.

Ironic part is I'd been expecting not to do an upgrade. Go figure.

Last year I got ~250 for trading in my S3 but this year it appears the max trade-in value from apple is $110?!

Yes, and that must be for the SS. I priced my S4 aluminum and it came back with $100, only $10 less.

Apple seriously lowered the trade-in price they'll give you this year! I got $225 for my S3 Nike+ last year. They're offering me $100 for my S4 Nike+ now. I'll sell it somewhere else. Craigslist, eBay, Facebook marketplace...

Yes, last year's trade-in prices make the S3->S4 upgrade very attractive. This year, no new tech + very low trade-in makes keeping the S4 by far the better option.

The S5 does have some new tech. New chip, double the storage, always-on face, compass. Macrumors buyback offered me $200. Twice as good as Apple.
