I can't agree with that. He certainly didn't help himself but he doesn't deserve it any more than someone deserves to be burgled because they accidentally left their keys in the front door. The fault lies with the perpetrator - always does.

Ethics aside, I kinda hope he can't get the data back. Not because I wish him any harm but because if he can then this remote wipe "security feature" is about as much use as a water soluble fishing line!

Yeah of course, sorry, i went over the line. I don't wish him either, and in light of the post I am also quoting

I agree with this. If that utility can recover the data, then remote wipe is mostly useless.

Apple has some serious security issues as of lately.

we wondered how she always knew he was at mine, becuase she'd always start ringing me when he got here and when i said he wasnt here she'd tell me she knew i was lying.
it didnt occur to us she was following him on find my iphone.

Good point, a DJ, needs it for his job and does not have a backup, not smart.

Totally agree; anyone who needs the computer for work should have multiple backups, not just one, but multiples.

Whole disk encryption as in FileVault2 is another way, if it is on no data can be recovered.

It seems then, that this is vitally important for remote wipe to be any use at all... Good to know, I suppose.
