I am having a serious problem. It started when I was on Firefox and my laptop completely froze. I had to turn it off holding down the power button. When I turned it back on I discovered it had been reset to factory settings, and that all my music, photos and tons of other files are missing. Some programs like Skype, MSN, and iWork won't even open at all. I don't know what to do and I'm really panicked about this. How can I fix this problem??

    Mac OS X Version 10.6.4

    Thank you.

It sounds like you're not getting access to your home folder. It might be time to fly back to your previous Time Machine backup.

You could try a password reset. The files are probably still there. You just don't have permission for them.
