Plenty of sites are saying iOS 9 will be released next week but OS X 10.11 won't be released until October.

Does that mean everyone is about to lose the ability to sync notes between their iOS devices and Macs for at least a month? As I understand it, notes from the new Notes app in iOS will only sync with the new Notes app in OS X 10.11. If that is the case we'll all lose note syncing ability until Apple releases El Cap next month. Seems like a weird choice for Apple to make.

Standard notes will continue to sync. When you open Notes app on iOS 9 for the first time it lets you upgrade to the new Notes or stay with the standard ones. It will even tell you that if you upgrade to the new ones, you won't be able to open them in any devices that don't have iOS 9 or El Capitan. It will show a list of your devices that are not compatible, if any.

Will they at least sync with the web version of Notes in icloud.com?

I could see this being a major problem, made a similar post back when beta 1 was released.

Not just for those waiting to upgrade to El Cap but for those who can't upgrade to El Cap (due of older hardware or company machine etc).

They solved this in beta 3 (or 2) and you can 'skip' the upgrade and sync standard notes instead. No doubt A LOT of people will click on 'Upgrade' without a second thought on iOS 9 launch day.

Hopefully Apple comes up with a solution, maybe a Notes.app update in 10.10.6 or hold off the new Notes.app until iOS 9.1.

Yes, there's currently a Beta Notes in iCloud.com. I guess it appears there when you activate the new Notes in either El Capitan or iOS 9.

I guess that for most people, the fact that it will tell you that if you upgrade you won't be able to open them anymore in X and Y devices will be more than enough to not upgrade.

People who don't heed to those warnings are worrying.
You know how Apple claims iOS beta will basically ruin your device? well here we are :)
