Idk man, I just went to Target to check out the 13 pro max cause I am undecided between the regular or the Max and man to me its like night and day the 120hz promotion. I’ve had a gaming monitor before and I remember the same feeling when I switched from the 60hz to the 144hz. Also, it kind of made me lean toward the max, maybe the pro motion is more “noticeable” on the larger display?

I have the same experience. Higher refresh rate make a huge difference in user experience for me.

It’s a much bigger deal on the iPad Pro. On a smaller screen, the difference is barely noticeable. It’s not like people were standing over their iPhones shouting, “Scroll, damnit, scroll!” before. It’s probably important for gamers and anyone who watches a lot of 24fps movies on his phone.

But, if you haven’t noticed, the more minor a feature is, the more people will complain about. 120 Hz refresh, the chin, the notch, the fact that the band around the iPhone is too shiny, or not shiny enough…

On the iPhone it's more of a nicety than a big deal. On the iPad I noticed it immediately and it made a huge different for headaches and what not. On the iPhone I actually didn't really notice it until I was using the old and new side-by-side. A lot of little stutters that my brain has learned to ignore are gone so I like it. It's exactly the kind of feature you get when you pay a few hundred more: non-essential, but nice.

I do a lot of scrolling through text. I read a lot on my phone. My eyes hurt significantly less so on a 120hz screen.

Compare it to iPhone 3GS to iPhone 4 Retina display. Is it possible to get by with the lower resolution? Yeah you get used to it. I get used to low refresh and low resolution monitors at work. But when I have a choice to buy my own hardware, I’m definitely going to splurge. If I care enough about my tech that I go to MacRumors, I’m obviously going to spend an extra $200 for the better screen.
