Has anyone else come across this? Never seen it before, nothing I do gets rid of it (unless you count turning it off).

Your gonna have to get a replacement. That's an LCD failure.

Have you tried a restore? If you have a trip to the Apple Store is needed.

Agreed - the lines have since tripled in the space of ten minutes
