I rejected it but no idea what it is?

I though sim cards are something you can buy at 7eleven and just pop it into your gsm phone(that's how it is is some gsm countries).. I rejected it but because i thought it might slow down me getting the phone.. if this is somehow make me not able to use the phone overseas at gsm countries.. i am returning it.. please somebody explain.

To use GSM networks you need a SIM card. I did the same as you and opted not to get it because I thought it would delay my process and make me add a global plan. If you need to use your phone overseas you could just go to the Verizon store and get a sim card and activate a global plan. I'm not sure if you can unlock this one and use any sim card like you can with ATT phones...but I'm sure someone can figure that out.

My wife just ordered her first iPhone via her carrier, Verizon and asked me the same thing. She passed on it and is wondering the same thing....

I just got off the phone with a Verizon rep (they were apparently paid time and a half + $50 to work overnight). You can add the Global Option later if you want to travel. If you were to get it now, you'd be paying the extra global plan charges in addition to your regular plan charges, so unless you're currently a pond-skipper and travel for work/life already, just wait til you need to travel, they'll enroll you temporarily and give you a sim card when the time arrives.

P.S. Got me a 32GB Black phone coming from Verizon!!! Whoo hoo! My first iPhone! And $50 off because I've been off contract for so long!
