Seriously, why no Apple Event today?

I figured if it was a small spec update, then yeah, simply update Apple.com. However, these are HUGE updates that almost no one saw coming.

The new Macbooks are a major upgrade.

They have 2 all new iMacs with new screens.

A revolutionary new Magic Mouse.

Why no Apple event?

In my opinion

its because the Mac is really starting to play second fiddle to the iPhone/iPod touch in the world of Apple. That is where their main cash cow is nowadays, so they are trying to reserve most of the hype generated by media events to promote those devices.

There are 2 external drives already announced and USB 3.0 computers are supposed to come out as soon as Q4.

with apples increased popularity and available money for advertising, i really think we are going to see fewer apple announcement events... they just dont need them anymore... the tech media gave them so much publicity for todays updates that everyone was watching just as closely without apple spending a single dollar...

USB3 is going to be a non-issue for quite a while yet.

Apple doesn't need it anymore or so they think. When you really look at it, we had enough intel to know something was coming soon. Also saves money, after all it is a recession 😀 :
