Hi all I'm having something strange happen my Server Name in finder when I go onto my MacBook Pro. My server was originally called Mac Server, after a while it changed to Mac Server (2) and now it's Mac Server (3) does anyone know why this might be happening? Everything still works perfectly and is it possible to change it back to the original Mac Server name?

I haven't had that happen on my server but have on Macs that 1) sleep, 2) have wake on LAN access enabled, and 3) have an AirPort Extreme. If that is the case for your server, read on: The AirPort Extreme acts as a Bonjour proxy for any sleeping Macs and wakes them when another system requests access. I believe that what happens is that the waking system seeks another system by the same name on the network (the AirPort Extreme proxy) and changes its name. I solved the problem by disabling Wake On LAN.
