    Hi,

I just tried to install the Vista SP1 update, but the update failed. The computer went to a screen that said "Service Pack did not install. Reverting changes. Do not turn off your computer.". That screen stayed up for about 45 minutes, with the Vista "loading circle" then the computer rebooted into Vista, and then that screen cam up agian and stayed up for 30-45 minutes, then shut down and rebooted, and it happened again. I manually turned the iMac off, then attempted to reboot into Vista but I got the same screen:confused::eek::mad:! This is also happening under VMWare.

    Please help me!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!

I really don't want to have to reinstall, because i just had to call MSFT yesterday, because Vista deactivated under VMWare, and I don't think that they'll give me another key again!

    Thanks!

    Don

UPDATE: Vista finally booted to the login screen, at which point I logged in only to be greeted by a pop up window that said that "This Copy of Windows is not genuine. Please activate windows, or purchase a valid license." It then continued to go on with the usual "Genuine Advantage" bull.

I already had activated Vista two days ago, and Vista said that it had successfully activated. Then I ran into an issue with VMWare, that caused Vista to say that it was not genuine, I installed VMWare Tools, and reactivated by calling the automated activation line, and all was fine. Now after the unsuccessful SP1 update, I have lost all Windows functionality. I am really pissed about this, and I guess that I'm going to have to call MSFT tomorrow, and try to get this activated AGAIN. and MSFT wonders why people hate Windows!?

Getting really pissed off now!!!! I just tried to boot into Vsta through VMWare, and now mirracuossly it works agian! It seems that Vista uninstalled VMTools during the failed SP1 "update". I now remember why I left Wincrap behiend and came over to OS X. It also appears that the failed "update" wiped all of my personal settings, and files:mad:. If MSFT had never put this damn WGA tool into Windows, I guarantee you that I never would have came over to Macs and OS X. Hat the hell happens if you replace a hardware component in your machine, does Windows brick itself then also?

My ratings are over. Mods lock this thread if you wish.
