it got very hot.
Once the transfer completed, it cooled down, and is now running at regular temperatures, no issues so far.
I keep reading that during long phone call the phones get so hot you can hardly touch them. This is a real deal breaker and so until something is done to fix this issue for everybody, I'm out.

I made a ~20 minutes phone call today and it did not get unusually hot.

I typically have phone calls that last 60 minutes or so. I have never felt the slightest bit of warmth on my iPhone 12 Pro.

So 20 minutes and "it did not get usually hot" means what? It was cool? I still think we have a problem that 1) Apple needs to come clean about and 2) Apple needs to fix.

If it's a hardware issue we have big problems!

I think that no phone stays totally cool during a very long call - so yes mine got a little warmer but I THINK not warmer than my previous phones during equally long calls.
We'll see if that turns out to be a problem with the 15Pro series. In the past, Apple quickly fixed battery and temperature issues with new models and/or iOS releases, let's hop there is no issue or if yes that Apple can fix it.
