I’ve just bought an iPhone 17 Pro as an upgrade from a 14 Pro.

I’m delighted with it but find that the only way to set it to silent is with the Action button. If I use the Control Centre to set silent, I still get notification and keyboard sounds.

This would be fine but I’d like to use the Action button for the camera.

Am I missing something?

Thanks!

You can also set silent mode in Settings > sound and haptics > silent mode

Are you not using the camera control button to launch the camera for a particular reason?
