When i set my mail account with my gmail account, at first it was ok, it can downloaded all the mail in my gmail and i've tried sending email, it was ok also. But now it can't fetch the mail, it will just keep processing, and then nothing happen, when i open the console, such error occur:

2006-05-20 19:17:34.587 Mail[229] -[POP3Connection fetchMessages:] failed: NSError "The connection to the server "pop.gmail.com" on port 0 timed out." Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=60 UserInfo={
NSLocalizedDescription = "The connection to the server \"pop.gmail.com\" on port 0 timed out.";
"_MFHelpAnchor" = "string:isp set up network send problem connection";
}

Setting i did in mail:
incoming mail server: pop.gmail.com
outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com, server port 465, use SSL

Anybody have done setting mail with gmail? Maybe i have a wrong in setting, but it was ok at first? :confused:

Vague: Did you enable POP from the Gmail account settings...? Can that for some reason have become undone...?

Has it been going on for a while...? Google's servers are down from time to time... :(

Edit: I'm using port 995 and SSL on incoming, too, BTW:

mine have exactly the same setting as yours, except i dont choose to remove the copy from server. and the server port is 995 as well. the server port 465 is when i click account information tab, and then click Server settings. can you see what port you're using in this settings? Thanks.. and i think google server is not down, because i can access it with safari, gmail.google.com..

I was thinking mostly on the POP/SMTP server(s), which can be down while the webmail service is still up, but I think there might be something fishy since my Mail has no problems with Google at the moment...

Have you tried a simple reboot, just to see if there's something that's had a little hiccup...? :)

i've tried reboot.. still the same, it's only at the first time i set up the account it can fetch all the mails, but then this problem occur.. i dont know..

I have occasionally had this problem, not just with my gmail account. in each instance, I have 'repaired' it (whatever 'it' was) by deleting the gmail account on my mac and re-entering it from scratch - using the same settings that you know have worked in the past. Worth a try? :)

Nope! Not a clue.
Sorry - but it has happened 3-4 times in the past year. Someone else in a previous thread had the same problem and this approach worked for them as well. BTW, I ought to say that I am using Panther 10.3.9 on a PowerMac G4 and PB G4. And I'm using 995 on my override default port (SSL box checked for you?).
