My wife and I share an IMAC but have separate accounts. My problem is we store all of our photos in aperture 2. When my wife downloads photos, I don't know how to access them. When I download photo's, she cant access mine. I think we both have our settings for sharing files as we are both set up as administrators as well. Is there an easy way to set up both of our accounts to go to a shared file as a default so we can just lick our aperture and see photos from both accounts. We are both very computer illiterate so simplicity would be great as far as setting up to default to the shared file on uploads. PLEASE HELP !!!!!!

I don't know if there is an easier way to do this, but I'm just going to show you how I would do it.

1. First, save your photos and music into folders on your account. I would place them into the "Pictures" and "Music" folders OS X has made for you. To access those folders, you go to Macintosh HD>Your account name on the sidebar under "Places".

2. Right-click on your folders and click on "Get Info".

3. In the "Get Info" panel, go to the bottom where it says "Sharing & Permissions". If there is a lock, click it and enter your username/password. If the lock is opened, then just click on the plus "+" sign and add your wife's account. Set her privileges so that it's "Read & Write".

4. Now she has access to that folder. On her account, go to Macintosh HD>Users>Your account name>then find the folders you saved. She should have access to them. Now so that she doesn't have to click through all that to find your folders, she can either right click the folder and "Make Alias". Drag that Alias folder to her desktop and she should have one-click access to the folder.

I'm sure there is another way to do this, but this is the only way I know how. I hope this works for you. Let me know if it does or doesn't work.

Not sure if Aperture allows this, but under the Users folder there is a Shared folder, which is for this type of setup. Both accounts (any account really) will be able to read and write to the contents of that folder. So, if Aperture can keep your images there then that would work.
