I've been trying to set up my Time Machine backup to a WD 2TB network drive. Although I can access it through Finder, It can't find it when I try to set it up when I go in to configure a Time Machine Backup. Is this even possible to do on something other than a Time Capsule? Since its a network drive, do I have to be connected as a registered user (It says I'm a guest now). <-- Would that make a difference? Thanks, I'm new to Mac and still trying to figure all this stuff out.

What version of OS X are you using? Have you "mounted" the drive? How are you connecting to the drive?

I'm Running Lion, I don't think that I've mounted the drive, but I'm connected to it over a WiFi network

Just so you are aware, if your running lion this may or may not work. I cannot test as my MBP doesn't support lion, so I can't help you there. I've heard some things were changed with the way time machine works in lion, but I don't know what exactly.

OK, I'll give it a try anyway
