Setting up Gmail as exchange

Can someone send me good direction on setting up gmail (as exchange) so that I can get push e mail and sync contacts and calandar form an imac to an iphone?

Please note that I do not have an exchange server but I was told you can set up G mail as exchange. Is the correct?

You don't have to set it up as an exchange account. You can just sign it as an IMAP account. And set up contacts and calendars.

You can, I forget the exact steps but it's under Googles Help docs. You'll need to make a new mail account on your phone as Exchange not Gmail.

Gmail as exchange on iPhone: YES

Gmail as exchange on iMac: NO, must use IMAP for email, CALDAV for calendars, and "Sychronize with Google" for contacts.
