I plan on getting a new domain from GoDaddy soon but I have never done this before and I want to make sure I can have it working with my server before I spend like $30 for 3 years of a useless domain. I have a home server with a static IP and its using WAMP Server. So what do I need to make it all work? I prefer a free solution. Also I am using DynDNS.com for my domain right now. Can I use them to direct the GoDaddy domain to my server?

Please help!

One more thing. Does GoDaddy have built in domain redirecting for their domains? I host sites for friends and family, and usually have their URLs redirected to there folder on my server. This is my first time using GoDaddy and all the other times redirecting were with DynDNS domains.

You can point the @ record of your domain to the IP address and host the site on your server. Since the IP is static you don't have to worry about the server software or the setup with dyndns.com. Here are some instructions on managing the DNS for your domain: http://help.godaddy.com/article/666

There are multiple ways to redirect the URLs for the hosted sites you referred to. One of the simplest ways is to use Go Daddy's forwarding service. Here's how: http://help.godaddy.com/article/422

Let me know if I can help in any other way.
