Setting up Mail to have mutiple return addresses with just one IMAP account

What's the right way to setup mail so that it has multiple return addresses with just one Gmail IMAP account.

For example my Gmail Imap account is machappyboy@gmail.com (example). I also send mail as "frank.silly@apple.com". How can I set up that return address in Mail?

I don't think you can do it in Mail.app. I've tried. I never had any success. You'd have to add a separate account.

In Mail.app "Preferences/Accounts/Account/Email Address" enter the list of addresses like so:

user@example.org, user2@example.com, user3@example.net
