Setting up my own Cloud based server

Since my MobileMe as been reduced down to the standard iCloud 5GB storage it's been a pain. I'm using my iPhone, iPad, iMac and soon to buy a rMBP. Whilst I could pay to upgrade to say 50GB iCloud storage I was thinking of buying the higher spec Mac G5 and have my own cloud based server. What are my options for software?
