Where is the location to add new fields through Siri so I can say "call brother" "call mom" etc.?

In the persons contact details click edit and add field.

    There's related people listed there.

Or, say to siri "call my brother" and you'll be asked who your brother is.

I went to the persons contact details, clicked edit and add field and there is the related field and I type dad though it is prefaced by the spouse.

How would I specify that a contact is my dad or my brother?

Tell Siri to call your dad and you'll be asked who your dad is.

    Tap it and change it.

Edit: Also, I think you want to change this in YOUR contacts, not theirs.

I click Edit > add field > related field

though the only options that display are spouse, assistance, and manager

How would I make this field "dad" or "brother" etc.?

Hit Edit, at the bottom where it says spouse assistant manager, click on the actual name. So in the Spouse field click Spouse.

It will bring up a list of all sorts, father is one of them. or you can create a custom field, then assign a contact to that relationship

You can also just tell Siri "So and So is my brother" and then say "call my brother" and it will coneect you.

I told Siri all of the important relationships and Siri makes all the changes automatically.

    Tell Siri:
    "My spouse is <name1>"*
    "My father is <name2>"
    "My mother is <name3>"
    "My brother is <name4>"**
    "My manager is <name5>"

Siri will respond with something like: "OK, would you like me to remember that <name3> is your mother?"

These relationships exist on your contact card so you must have a contact card for yourself and Siri must know about it (Settings/General/Siri/My Info).

*You can substitute the word "husband" or "wife" for "spouse". Siri does not distinguish between gender when referring to your spouse. In other words, You can say "Call my wife", "Call my husband", or "Call my spouse" -- all of these are equivalent as far as Siri is concerned!

**Doesn't work so hot if you have more than one brother. ;)

***None of this relationship stuff works properly in 5.1 beta 3, sadly.

to set up your family connects you have to add the relationships inside your own contact. just did it myself

I would imagine it would just go

    "What brother?: Brother1name Brother2name"

Does that for me when I say like "Ring James" and I have 9 people by that name on my phone.

    Siri will ask for clarification.
Also, you could change your relationship with each of them to custom labels e.g. "Older/Younger Brother" like so, in addition to the default "Brother":

This way if you ask non specifically to contact your brother Siri will ask for conformation 'Name 1, or Name 2?', but you may be more specific from the start.

I'd hope that by the time Siri is out of Beta Siri will be able to interpret synonyms of words, so texting your 'little brother' is associated with "Younger Brother", who is in this case 'Name 2'.
Similarly, if Facebook is integrated into future versions of iOS the user could ask to call or otherwise contact a relation of a person in their contacts (but who they don't have in their contacts) - So asking for "Tim's cousin" finds "Tim x" in your contacts, then determines who Tim's cousin is by looking through his profile, picks out the cousins phone number from their personal info page (assuming their security is in this regard set to 'friends of friends' or lower) and initiates the call.
