Hi all,

Okay so I have a BT Homehub 3 and it is next to useless so I am going to buy an AEBS to plug into it so all my devices stop dropping out. So I have a few things I was wondering you could help me with on here.

First of all is there a way to plug in a USB drive to run my iTunes library off? I have an ATV and MacBook Pro and have quite a lot of music and videos in my library and would rather be able to stick everything on an external hard drive without have the MacBook switched on all the time. Any advice on decent hard drives would be appreciated too.

Secondly I don't know if it's possible but would I be able to access the files remotely if I wasn't on the local network? I think a friend of mine mentioned that he can do this on his Time Capsule.

Cheers

An AppleTV is unable to connect to any network share without iTunes (or iOS) device inbetween!
Just search the AppleTV section of this forum for keywords "iTunes" and "NAS".
You can access any of your home servers remotely over Internet if you set up port forwarding on your borderline router properly.
Again, search this very forum.
