i have this: HP Deskjet F4180

i set it all up, and run the installer with no problems. it prints fine, but when i press the scan button the on button flashes for 20 seconds, this is because the computer isn't functioning with the Photosmart software, or it is missing.

i did a google search for some help and found this thread from the apple forums:

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1219988&tstart=0

it's apparently a bug with Leopard, and i downloaded the following patch/update from HP:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-56883-1&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=1142684&os=219&lang=en

this is supposed to patch up and fix the problem. so i run the installer, it says it was successful. but when i click the scan button again i get the same on button flashing error.

has anyone got idea what i need to do/download/fix/install to get the scan function working? as i really need it for my uni work 🙁

thanks in advance.
