Hi,

Now that international release has been announced, has anyone been able to set up vision pro with a non-US appleID?

Thinking many people outside US bought Vision Pro in US then brought home but had to use a US account initially. Wondering if anyone that has one outside the US has tried with their native country account. Especially those from countires that now have a Vision Pro release date.

Same as before. Everything works except AT+ and AppStore.

but for AT+ and AppStore nearly everyone has a simultaneous US account since you can be logged in in both.

Yes. I live in an EU country and hope than when it's released in France and Germany my usual Apple ID will work. because of EU laws. I'm not an expert, so I'm not sure it will, but one can hope.

For the time being I've bought about $40 worth of apps with an US Apple ID. But I'm not going to pay for Things 3 or Strongbox until I can do it from my European account.

When the AVP launches on july 12th your EU AppleID will fully be supported.

Interesting snippet on Apple's website :

  • If a customer purchases an Apple Vision Pro in one of the countries in which it is sold and then takes it to another country, how does their experience differ?

    • The App Store requires an Apple ID with the region set to a country in which Apple Vision Pro is available for purchase.
    • Purchases on the Apple Music and Apple TV apps require an Apple ID with region set to the country in which the device was purchased.
    • For customers with vision correction needs, ZEISS will only accept vision prescriptions written by eye care professionals in the country where ZEISS Optical Inserts are purchased and will only ship to locations within that country.
    • Customers may not be able to access certain apps, features or content due to licensing or other restrictions in those countries or regions.
    • Apple Support is only available in the countries in which Apple Vision Pro is sold.
That second point highlighted in red implies that Music/Apple TV are region locked to the Vision Pro hardware... I wonder if this is true? Can't recall Apple having a policy like this in recent history.

That is very concerning…

Nah. Your local Apple ID works with music & purchases in TV since launch. You only need an US ID to download apps atm.

How convinced are you about this?
Message from Apple seems pretty clear.
My understanding is if you own a US sourced AVP, when it launches in the UK you would be able to use your UK Apple ID for the App Store etc but NOT for Apple TV and Apple Music which will still require a US based Apple ID.
If anyone can confirm/deny this, I would be very happy to hear about it!

You can already use your local ID for music and things bought in Apple TV.

They’re not going to change this.

What I’m currently unsure about is the difference between stuff bought in the TV app (aka movies and shows bought) and the regular subscription.
The German website explicitly mentions only the stuff bought 🤔
